WEBVTT

1
00:00:03.503 --> 00:00:04.921
Honored Elder?

2
00:00:04.921 --> 00:00:05.755
Excuse me.

3
00:00:07.257 --> 00:00:08.091
Hello.

4
00:00:09.342 --> 00:00:10.719
Would you like a story?

5
00:00:14.597 --> 00:00:16.725
As this Season 3 has been
wrapping up,

6
00:00:16.725 --> 00:00:21.438
these final episodes have,
again, gift from the writers,

7
00:00:21.438 --> 00:00:24.315
they have given
Saru such a delicious

8
00:00:24.315 --> 00:00:25.942
storyline to delve into.

9
00:00:25.942 --> 00:00:28.319
Computer must've found
data from the Khi'eth.

10
00:00:28.319 --> 00:00:30.071
The Kelpien ship where
the message came from.

11
00:00:30.071 --> 00:00:33.158
Someone is alive
inside that ship.

12
00:00:33.158 --> 00:00:35.035
We do an away mission,
just the three of us,

13
00:00:35.035 --> 00:00:38.079
Burnham, Culber,
and me as Saru.

14
00:00:38.079 --> 00:00:39.831
I'm going.

15
00:00:39.831 --> 00:00:41.124
And Saru worries you?

16
00:00:42.417 --> 00:00:44.002
I'm not sure he can
be objective.

17
00:00:44.002 --> 00:00:46.671
It's an incredibly
dangerous proposition.

18
00:00:47.797 --> 00:00:52.677
And I think Stamets
is not ready to risk

19
00:00:52.677 --> 00:00:53.970
losing Hugh again,

20
00:00:53.970 --> 00:00:55.680
and I understand that,
I get that.

21
00:00:55.680 --> 00:00:57.766
He's been through a
traumatic experience.

22
00:00:57.766 --> 00:00:58.850
You can't go, Hugh.

23
00:01:00.143 --> 00:01:04.189
You have me, Adira,
and everyone here-

24
00:01:04.189 --> 00:01:09.189
Paul, I need to go for me.

25
00:01:09.235 --> 00:01:13.156
But at the same time,
we're not housewives.

26
00:01:13.156 --> 00:01:16.409
We signed up to be
members of Starfleet

27
00:01:16.409 --> 00:01:18.495
and that comes at a risk.

28
00:01:18.495 --> 00:01:19.871
The meds we've just
taken will help,

29
00:01:19.871 --> 00:01:21.581
as will the anti-radiation
boosters

30
00:01:21.581 --> 00:01:23.833
that we're bringing with
us, but we'll still need

31
00:01:23.833 --> 00:01:26.961
to be back in sickbay in
four hours, at the most.

32
00:01:26.961 --> 00:01:28.296
This means an
awful lot to Saru.

33
00:01:28.296 --> 00:01:31.174
I have not seen another
Kelpien since we made the jump.

34
00:01:31.174 --> 00:01:34.385
Where is Kaminar
culturally now?

35
00:01:34.385 --> 00:01:36.513
Where are they
technology-wise?

36
00:01:36.513 --> 00:01:38.181
Did they progress,
did they not?

37
00:01:38.181 --> 00:01:39.432
I don't know.

38
00:01:39.432 --> 00:01:42.227
So when we beam down,
something really really fun happens.

39
00:01:42.227 --> 00:01:44.687
Hopefully it's fun for
the viewer

40
00:01:44.687 --> 00:01:46.272
as much as it was for me.

41
00:01:47.690 --> 00:01:48.733
You're Bajoran.

42
00:01:48.733 --> 00:01:51.444
We beam in and we're
in an outdoor forest

43
00:01:51.444 --> 00:01:53.571
in the winter in coats
and-

44
00:01:53.571 --> 00:01:55.740
My heel is touching
the ground.

45
00:01:55.740 --> 00:01:57.075
I'm human.

46
00:01:57.075 --> 00:01:59.577
How did that happen?
Where are we?

47
00:01:59.577 --> 00:02:00.912
What is happening?

48
00:02:00.912 --> 00:02:02.580
Well, practically speaking,

49
00:02:02.580 --> 00:02:04.874
playing a new species
means a lot more time

50
00:02:04.874 --> 00:02:06.918
in the makeup trailer.

51
00:02:06.918 --> 00:02:08.920
It's a lot of fun, I love
the earring, personally.

52
00:02:08.920 --> 00:02:10.797
I'm all about the earring.

53
00:02:10.797 --> 00:02:12.924
What a great thing to
be human on the show.

54
00:02:12.924 --> 00:02:15.093
Can I tell you.

55
00:02:15.093 --> 00:02:18.054
Now I'm wigged because
my hair was shaved down to the skin

56
00:02:18.054 --> 00:02:20.014
for my Kelpien
makeup all season.

57
00:02:20.014 --> 00:02:24.102
So the decision was do
we go with the bald look

58
00:02:24.102 --> 00:02:25.854
for me as a human,
or do we go?

59
00:02:25.854 --> 00:02:27.522
So we decided
on the hair.

60
00:02:27.522 --> 00:02:30.108
To actually be able
to act with Doug Jones

61
00:02:30.108 --> 00:02:33.403
outside of his prosthetic
and see and appreciate

62
00:02:33.403 --> 00:02:37.782
even more how great
he is at his job,

63
00:02:38.658 --> 00:02:40.869
and be able to really
look into his eyes,

64
00:02:41.786 --> 00:02:42.745
that's been a lot of fun.

65
00:02:45.957 --> 00:02:47.041
That is an Elder.

66
00:02:48.376 --> 00:02:51.713
When I was a boy,
the village elders would

67
00:02:51.713 --> 00:02:55.133
gather around the fire
with us at night and tell stories.

68
00:02:55.133 --> 00:02:59.470
Going in for a little wig
and a little makeup on the face,

69
00:02:59.470 --> 00:03:02.307
what a dream, and my
hands are free with no Kelpien hands

70
00:03:02.307 --> 00:03:04.267
so I can get my own-
I can get a coffee,

71
00:03:04.267 --> 00:03:05.852
I can take myself
to the bathroom.

72
00:03:05.852 --> 00:03:07.854
These are luxuries that
you don't think about.

73
00:03:07.854 --> 00:03:09.105
I suppose that was
too much to hope for.

74
00:03:09.105 --> 00:03:12.233
So this human stuff
spoiled me a little bit.
